Berkshire Hathaway Class B shares hit a record high, shaking off the shadow of Warren Buffett's departure.

According to BIT (bit.com) market data, Berkshire Hathaway’s Class A shares (BRK.A) rose 0.8%, while Class B shares (BRK.B) gained 1.1% to $544.73. Class B shares hit a new all-time high, surpassing their previous peak set on May 2, 2025. On May 3, 2025, Warren Buffett announced he would step down as CEO after nearly 60 years leading the company; following the announcement, the stock price declined for several consecutive months. Greg Abel, who has served as the successor for less than a year, has already resumed share repurchases and completed two multi-billion-dollar deals: acquiring Taylor Morrison Home’s related assets to expand its residential construction business, and taking a stake in Google parent Alphabet to bet on artificial intelligence. Meyer Shields, an analyst at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, noted that the company still holds around $360 billion in cash, and higher short-term interest rates in the U.S. will help it earn more returns from this. Meanwhile, Apple and Coca-Cola shares have successively hit record highs. After a sharp rally, Coca-Cola even overtook Google to become Berkshire’s third-largest holding, while its sixth-largest holding Chevron also benefited from rising oil prices. Berkshire is scheduled to release its third-quarter financial report on November 7.
