Microsoft completes pre-training of a 2.8-trillion-parameter model, outperforming the GPT-5.6 base model with only one-quarter of the computing power.

Beating AI News: Microsoft announces completion of pre-training for its new self-developed model MAI-Base-2. The model has a total of 2.8 trillion parameters, adopts a Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architecture, and activates only 80 billion parameters per forward pass. Between August and September this year, Microsoft used 16,000 NVIDIA GB200 GPUs for 38 days of training, processing approximately 50 trillion tokens. The new model also introduces native visual pre-training for the first time, with visual data accounting for 18% of its training data. Internal tests released by Microsoft show that MAI-Base-2 outperforms models including DeepSeek-V4-Pro-Base, Kimi K3, and Qwen3.8 on text prediction benchmarks for code, question answering, mathematics, and science and engineering disciplines. Microsoft also claims that training a model of equivalent performance to DeepSeek-V4-Pro-Base would require only 1/4 to 1/12 of the computing power using its approach. However, Microsoft has invested additional computing power to build a larger, more capable model; MAI-Base-2’s actual training computing power consumption is still higher than that of DeepSeek. Microsoft AI head Mustafa Suleyman stated at an internal meeting on October 15 that MAI-Base-2’s pre-training base is already stronger than the OpenAI model supporting GPT-5.6 Sol, while requiring only one-fourth the training computing power. Microsoft improved MoE expert scheduling, Muon optimizer, and data filtering methods to reduce GPU memory waste and enhance the stability of large-scale training. The company also emphasized that all training data is processed in-house, and the model’s capabilities were not obtained through distillation of other firms’ models. MAI-Base-2 is currently in the post-training phase. Microsoft plans to first deploy it for its own products, then license the model weights to enterprise partners via Foundry.

Jupiter’s high-leverage product YOLO hits $1 billion in trading volume within 24 hours of launch.

Jupiter official announced that its high-leverage trading product YOLO has surpassed $1 billion in trading volume less than 24 hours after launch. The product currently supports up to 1000x leverage for SOL, BTC, and ETH. Developed by Jupiter Labs, YOLO is benchmarked against PaperTrade and adopts the JLP model. It simulates positions based on real market prices, with real profit and loss outcomes, but does not require executing corresponding large-scale leverage positions in the actual market. Profits are disbursed from the fund pool; in cases of insufficient liquidity, payouts may enter a queue.

Tencent Hunyuan releases Hy Memory 2.0: fully open-sourced across three layers (model, framework, application), ranks first in open-source memory framework evaluations.

Beating AI Express News: Tencent Hunyuan announced the upgrade of its agent memory framework Hy Memory to version 2.0, and open-sourced the dedicated model Hy-Memory-30A3B, the memory framework itself, and the MemHub application. These three capabilities can be used independently or combined to form a complete memory solution. The framework handles the storage, update, and evolution of three types of memory—chat, work, and code—ranking first among open-source memory frameworks on four benchmarks. The dedicated model scored 55.49 in evaluations across multiple memory systems including Hy Memory, Mem0, and MemOS, surpassing Opus5’s 54.62. Hy Memory 2.0 upgrades chat memory from fragmented facts to complete event contexts, adds new work and code memory capabilities, and can judge the applicable conditions of experience to accurately assist in long-term tasks. As a local memory management app, MemHub supports CLI and Mac, connects to 10 AI tools including WorkBuddy, Cursor, and Codex, and enables historical memory import and real-time cross-tool synchronization. This capability has been deployed in Tencent’s business lines including Stock Selector, iWiki, and Tencent News: Stock Selector’s multi-hop recall rate rose from 50% to 90%, with a comprehensive score improvement of 23.8%; iWiki’s answer accuracy when using only memory increased by 48.6% relative to providing all original conversations; Tencent News achieved an average long-term preference score of 91.68 points.
