Magic Eden: Today’s incident was not a platform hack, but a smart contract vulnerability in the Limit Break transaction protocol.

Magic Eden CEO Jack posted that the platform was not attacked today. The incident originated from Limit Break’s trading protocol and smart contract, Magic Eden clarified, noting that it stopped using that protocol two years ago. Jack said Magic Eden is in communication with Limit Break to work out further solutions, including pushing for a protocol-level suspension of related asset transfers. Until then, users should revoke their relevant authorizations on Magic Eden. Jack also thanked white hat hacker 0xQuit for assisting in recovering stolen assets, stating this prevented the situation from deteriorating further. Magic Eden added that more updates will be released after further verifying the situation.

US stock futures rise, while falling oil prices and US Treasury yields ease market pressure.

U.S. stock index futures rose as oil prices and U.S. Treasury yields pulled back from their recent sharp gains, with markets awaiting key data on inflation expectations. Subadra Rajappa, head of U.S. research at Societe Generale, said: "Stocks remain relatively resilient, and we’re not really seeing any meaningful tightening in financial conditions right now." Two major factors weighing on stocks this week eased early Friday. The yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury note edged lower after surging on Wednesday and Thursday. Meanwhile, oil prices fell overnight as the U.S. and Iran negotiate a phased deal that could lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the lifting of Washington’s sanctions on Iranian ports. Tom Essaye, founder of The Sevens Report, wrote in a client note that Friday’s oil price drop and Treasury yield pullback "provided relief for investors."

Circle freezes $100,000 worth of USDC from the stolen Bitget address, and the community is calling on Tether to follow suit.

SomaXBT, a contributor to crypto non-profit Security Alliance, stated in a post that Circle has frozen 100,000 USDC from an address linked to stolen Bitget funds, which also holds around 218,000 USDT. The community has since called on Tether to follow up on the freeze procedures. Per prior disclosures, this address is a "three-hop" linked address to Bitget’s initial stolen funds address, and remained untouched for over 2.5 hours after being detected. Crypto KOL tanuki42 launched a "Circle vs Tether" tracking initiative at the time, asking which of the two firms would freeze the relevant assets first. So far, Circle has taken the lead in freezing the USDC in the address, while it remains to be seen whether Tether will freeze the remaining ~218,000 USDT.

Viewpoint: Bitcoin holders are taking profits, but the scale is far lower than at historical peaks.

As Bitcoin (BTC) recently rebounded to around $85,000, holders have started taking profits, but the volume of realized profits is significantly lower than during previous market peaks. Data shows BTC holders have accumulated roughly $2.4 billion in realized profits recently, while daily realized profits typically hit $7 billion to $10 billion during past market peaks. BTC has risen approximately 44% so far this quarter, hitting a peak near $85,000, marking its best quarterly performance since Q4 2024, after three consecutive quarters of declines. Meanwhile, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs have seen a combined net inflow of around $2.84 billion over the past six trading days, exceeding BTC holders' realized profits in the same period; year-to-date, the ETFs' cumulative net inflow has also turned positive at roughly $800 million. Ethereum (ETH) has also shown signs of capital outflow from exchanges: around 410,000 ETH has been moved out of trading platforms over the past month, while U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs have attracted a combined $680 million in net inflows over the past four trading days. Following the $452 million Bitget hack, BTC, ETH and other major crypto assets have not shown significant signs of weakening so far. Meanwhile, U.S. Treasury yields and the U.S. Dollar Index have temporarily slowed their rally, but crude oil markets remain highly volatile due to news related to U.S.-Iran tensions.
