Zed’s newly launched open beta feature Delta aims to fill this gap. It integrates agent conversations, every code modification, and subsequent comments into a single history. When reviewing problematic code, users can trace back directly to see the original request and how the agent iteratively arrived at the current code. Code review no longer has to wait until development is complete: developers can open a separate thread at any time to have a human or another agent review the current code, and continue modifying in an independent copy. Zed has already tested Delta internally. The Delta repository has disabled GitHub Pull Requests, and 33 team members have merged 570 changes to the main branch via Delta. Git remains intact, with commit, push, and build workflows unaffected. Zed’s core goal with Delta is to revamp the code review layer: as more code is generated by agents, relying solely on the final diff is no longer sufficient. Delta currently supports macOS, Linux, Windows, and web versions, and is free during its open beta. Features like MCP and remote runtime environments are still in development.
