Beating AI News: Personal AI assistant Instinct is considering a $1 billion follow-on financing round. The firm just closed a $250 million funding, bringing its total raised to $350 million. Over the past few weeks, Instinct has repeatedly notified users that its services are at full capacity, leading to slower response times. The new financing round remains in the early stages and may not ultimately proceed. If the full $1 billion is secured, existing investors expect the valuation to reach at least around $10 billion, to limit dilution for old shareholders to under 10%. Currently, Instinct primarily rents servers and extensively uses open-source models. Founder Noah Shinn has also told potential investors that the company aims to eventually purchase its own chips and even operate data centers to reduce long-term computing power costs. Competition has also intensified sharply: Meta has just launched a free personal agent, Muse, which can also help users shop, book flights, and handle daily tasks.
