DeepSeek V4.1 Flash officially launched: New 552B architecture, only 8B parameters activated on input

Beating AI Express News: DeepSeek officially launches V4.1 Flash. The new model has a total of 552 billion parameters, adopts a brand-new Causal-Encoder-Decoder architecture, and natively supports image understanding. It is also currently the smallest model in DeepSeek’s new architecture series. This architecture separates input and output processing: only 8 billion parameters are activated when reading input, and 16 billion parameters are activated when generating responses. DeepSeek states that this design allows the 552B large model to keep inference costs low. After new pre-training and larger-scale reinforcement learning, V4.1 Flash has outperformed V4 Pro in official benchmarks. Caching has also been significantly compressed: compared to the previous generation, V4.1 Flash cuts HBM memory demand to 1/4 and SSD storage demand to 1/8, mainly reducing costs for long contexts and repeated AI agent calls. V4.1 Flash is now available via API; users can access it by using the model name "deepseek-flash".

Has the throne of China's top domestic AI model changed hands again? DeepSeek's Flash model bounces back to the peak.

Beating AI Express: Over the past few months, the top spot among domestic Chinese AI models has been swapped between Kimi and Zhipu AI. In the latest third-party ranking from Artificial Analysis, Kimi K3 and GLM-5.3 scored 44 and 45 points respectively, while DeepSeek V4 Pro 0813 only earned 36 points. Now DeepSeek is fighting back with its V4.1 Flash model. According to official evaluations, among the 16 tests where both models have results, V4.1 Flash won 13 against Kimi K3; in the 13 overlapping tests with GLM-5.3, it took 11 wins. Its advantages lie mainly in coding, terminal operations, and agent automation. What’s more, this may just be the start: Kimi K3 is Kimi’s current strongest 2.8T parameter model, GLM-5.3 is Zhipu’s flagship, while V4.1 Flash is merely the smallest model in DeepSeek’s new architecture series.
