Sality Botnet Dismantled; It Previously Stole Funds by Tampering with BTC and ETH Receiving Addresses.

CrowdStrike and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced the takedown of the Sality peer-to-peer (P2P) botnet, isolating more than 15,000 infected devices globally. The botnet has been spreading since 2003, and over the past eight years has primarily deployed a clipboard hijacking tool called EggJagger to steal funds from Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) transfers. EggJagger monitors the crypto wallet addresses copied by victims and replaces them with addresses controlled by attackers, diverting transferred funds to the threat actors. CrowdStrike estimates that the tool alone has stolen at least $150,000 worth of crypto assets; as most of the funds have not been moved, the associated holdings rose to approximately $1.35 million in January 2025. The U.S. DOJ, FBI, and Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS) have seized relevant domains in the U.S., while police in Bulgaria, Hungary, and Romania shut down the botnet’s European infrastructure. Infected devices have now been redirected to traffic receiving servers controlled by CrowdStrike, but the original malware on the devices remains active until manually removed.

Solana Foundation Chairman: Funds, Assets, and Ownership Are Entering the "Token Supercycle"

Solana Foundation Chair Lily Liu published an article stating that funds, assets, and ownership are migrating to all-weather internet infrastructure, giving rise to a long-term "token super cycle". Tokenization is not merely moving assets onto the blockchain—it transforms the assets themselves, enabling value to be issued, held, financed, and traded in a non-stop market. She noted that stablecoins have already proven funds can flow globally on-chain; financial institutions are driving asset tokenization; blockchain infrastructure is now meeting the speed and cost requirements of real economic activities; and AI economic agents need programmable currency. As these factors converge, any value with clear ownership could be tokenized, gaining broader distribution, financing, and trading channels. Over the past year, Solana-based Real World Asset (RWA) trading volume reached hundreds of billions of U.S. dollars, covering tokenized U.S. Treasuries, stocks, and private credit; during the same period, stablecoin transfers exceeded $4.7 trillion. Liu added that tokenization also allows more investors to break through geographic, minimum investment, and eligibility restrictions, while enabling held assets to be used as collateral or generate yields. Although the current on-chain market size is still far smaller than traditional markets, related infrastructure could reach 5.5 billion global internet users in the future.

Nakamoto, the company owned by Trump crypto ally David Bailey, has seen its stock price fall roughly 99% from its peak and is now trying to rebuild its operations.

According to Bloomberg, crypto entrepreneur David Bailey—who once helped shift Donald Trump’s stance toward supporting Bitcoin—is now trying to rebuild his Bitcoin treasury firm Nakamoto after its stock price plummeted roughly 99% from its peak. Previously, Bailey raised around $760 million for the public company to build up its Bitcoin reserves. Nakamoto went public via a merger in May 2025, and its stock has since fallen roughly 99% from its all-time high. This decline is part of a broader pullback across digital asset treasury firms, as the premium investors once paid to hold Bitcoin indirectly via public companies has largely evaporated. Bailey’s hedge fund previously generated a 640% return from similar strategies. He noted that he still occasionally communicates with the White House and is working to prove that Nakamoto has a viable, sustainable business despite the sharp stock drop.

The Trump administration plans to impose additional tariffs on chips, while granting exemptions to U.S. domestic manufacturing enterprises.

US Commerce Secretary Lutnick said Wednesday that the Trump administration is considering a new round of import tariffs on semiconductors, potentially further raising taxes on foreign chips to attract more semiconductor manufacturing to shift to the U.S. However, these tariffs may be implemented in conjunction with tariff relief measures for companies investing in U.S. domestic manufacturing, following the Trump administration’s earlier approach for the pharmaceutical industry. Lutnick stated, “This is the principle the semiconductor industry should follow: if you manufacture in the U.S., we will grant you tariff relief; if you do not, you will pay tariffs. This is a very wise approach and it works.” The Trump administration had previously imposed a 25% tariff on some advanced semiconductors, and in January this year, after the U.S. Department of Commerce completed a related trade investigation, it ordered additional import tariffs on these chips. However, the scope of the new round of tariffs may expand from semiconductors themselves to products containing chips, thereby affecting imports of data center servers and consumer electronics.

Oppenheimer raises SpaceX's price target to $280, maintains its "Outperform" rating.

Oppenheimer has raised SpaceX (SPCX)’s price target from $250 to $280, while maintaining its "Outperform" rating. Analyst Tim Horan noted that SpaceX owns a vertically integrated AI platform, with advantages in data, capital and Nvidia GPU resources, and is rapidly expanding its infrastructure. Horan pointed out that Grok and Cursor have made strong progress recently, with AI usage exceeding expectations. Based on higher AI computing power pricing and potential returns from next-generation Nvidia Rubin chips, Oppenheimer also lifted SpaceX’s long-term revenue projections.
