US President Donald Trump will raise tariffs on Canadian automobiles and steel to 50%. In a post, Trump claimed that Canada has been taking advantage of the United States for years. He noted that Canada imposes exorbitantly high tariffs on American farmers and agricultural products, making it difficult for these "great American patriots" to make a living, and has long maintained a $60 billion trade deficit between the two nations. "This situation is unsustainable and will not continue!" he wrote. Starting January 1, 2027, tariffs will be increased to 50% on all cars, trucks (both large and small), auto parts, and steel.
