AI lab Anthropic has hired Amir Salek, one of the founders of Google’s custom chip project under Alphabet (GOOG.O), as part of its hardware push as it lays groundwork to enter the in-house semiconductor space. Salek’s hire is part of the company’s hardware strategy. Anthropic announced Friday that Salek will join its computing team. Salek previously led Google’s Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) business, departing in 2022, and oversaw delivery of the first seven generations of TPU chips. Currently, Anthropic sources chips from multiple vendors including Nvidia (NVDA.O), Google, and Amazon (AMZN.O). However, the company has recently signaled its intent to build an in-house chip business. The San Francisco-based AI firm has already begun recruiting for this initiative and posted related job openings.

According to monitoring by AI Auntie, the whale codenamed "Set 10 Big Goals" has added new positions to its BTC and ETH short positions, bringing its current position size to nearly $170 million. Its current short positions breakdown is as follows: BTC short: 1,830.724 units, valued at ~$139 million, average entry price of $76,397.56, with an unrealized loss of ~$1.98 million; ETH short: 12,756.739 units, valued at ~$30.25 million, average entry price of $2,371.57, with an unrealized loss of ~$858,000. After adding nearly $80 million in new short positions, the whale has set BTC's stop-loss price at around $80,500.

According to monitoring by Onchain Lens, Grayscale’s Chainlink ETF (ticker: GLNK) acquired 132,950 LINK tokens via Coinbase Prime six hours ago, valued at approximately $1.53 million. Data shows the GLNK ETF currently holds a total of around 10.66 million LINK tokens, with assets under management (AUM) of roughly $124.16 million. The relevant wallet address is: 0xe33Bf747197B3c73650E40E3e9024AE5548E0aA7. Grayscale’s Chainlink ETF (GLNK) is designed to provide investors with exposure to Chainlink by holding LINK assets. The ETF was previously listed and traded in the U.S. market, with its assets primarily composed of LINK tokens.

According to HTX market data, ZEC has surged past $768 to hit a new all-time high, with its 24-hour price gain expanding to 31%.

According to Fox News, U.S. President Donald Trump earlier said that all governors and local government officials should welcome the construction of artificial intelligence (AI) data centers. Trump stated: "This will create a large number of construction jobs. We are building the largest factories in the world. I can say that if I were a city mayor or a state governor and had the chance to bring a large AI factory or data center to my area, I would definitely want it to come, because it can generate a lot of jobs, and the capital and tax revenue it brings are very substantial." Trump also noted that given most Americans oppose building data centers in their own communities, the AI industry needs "a little public relations help."
