US stock futures edged lower, with Nasdaq 100 index futures falling more than 1%.

Layer 1 blockchain Decred announced it has discovered a vulnerability, with a fix patch scheduled for release on the evening of August 18 (Beijing Time). Out of caution, the project’s official team advises users to disable voting and mining functions before upgrading, and will issue an announcement immediately after the patch goes live.

According to Taiwan Economic Daily, power semiconductor manufacturers in Taiwan, China are planning a third round of price adjustments, with non-contract products set to see a 10% to 15% price hike as early as October. Industry insiders are optimistic that firms including Taiwan Semiconductor, Alpha and Omega Semiconductor, and Delta Microelectronics will achieve both volume and price growth in their operations in the second half of the year. On the Sui blockchain, DeFi project NAVI Protocol has officially launched the NAVI Prime lending framework, becoming the first project in the Sui ecosystem to roll out curator-managed lending vaults. NAVI Protocol went live on Sui mainnet in 2023, with a historical peak total value locked (TVL) exceeding $1 billion, over 1.1 million cumulative users, and stands as one of the first lending protocols in the Move ecosystem to implement the isolated risk pool model. NAVI Prime adopts a curator-led lending model similar to Morpho, designed for institutional-grade risk standards and deep liquidity. It was developed over four months and completed more than three independent security audits. This week, NAVI Protocol will release a full launch announcement jointly with the Sui official team. Traditional DeFi lending typically mixes risk assets into a single pool, making risk isolation challenging. NAVI Prime leverages independently curated lending markets, assigning separate risk frameworks, collateral valuation methods, and market parameters for different asset allocations, enabling modular management that enhances capital efficiency while reducing cross-market risk contagion. The launch of NAVI Prime marks the Sui lending ecosystem advancing toward a more mature and specialized direction, and provides institutional capital entering the Sui DeFi ecosystem with infrastructure more aligned with traditional financial risk control standards.

The Ethereum Foundation (EF) has warned developers that upcoming gas model changes in the Glamsterdam upgrade may cause compatibility issues for some wallets, indexers, and gas estimation tools. The EF’s Protocol Development and Operations team stated that any tools relying on hard-coded maximum gas limits will be affected and require updates. The team advised developers to test relevant systems in advance on the Plataberget public testnet, which will run for several months to prepare for the Glamsterdam upgrade. According to upgrade tracking platform Forkcast, Plataberget launched on August 13, and the Glamsterdam fork is scheduled to activate on the network this Thursday, followed by deployments on the Sepolia and Hoodi testnets. This upgrade involves EIP-8037, which introduces an independent "state gas" dimension for operations that create new blockchain states. Post-upgrade, standard ETH transfers to existing accounts will still require 21,000 gas, but sending ETH to new accounts will incur additional state gas fees. The Ethereum Foundation noted that developers need to re-audit software that defaults to "all ETH transfers only cost 21,000 gas" or uses a single gas dimension to estimate transaction costs. In addition to gas model adjustments, Glamsterdam will also include native Proposer-Builder Separation (PBS), block-level access lists, and improvements such as increasing size limits for contracts and initialization code.
