Huang Renxun Visits South Korea to Deepen Cooperation, Meets with Executives from SK Hynix, Samsung Electronics, and Other Tech Companies

**June 7** — NVIDIA (NVDA.O) CEO Jensen Huang revealed that the company’s upcoming Vera central processing unit (CPU) will use storage chips from SK Hynix, with the two tech giants eyeing expanded collaborations next year. Huang told reporters in Seoul on Sunday that he’d dined with SK’s top leadership that same day: SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won, SK Hynix CEO Lee Seok-Hee, and executives from SK Telecom. “Our partnership with SK Hynix is already running at a large scale this year,” he stated. “We’re also preparing for even bigger joint projects in the second half of 2024 and next year. The Vera CPU—our revolutionary new central processor—will rely on SK Hynix’s DRAM memory as well.” Vera marks NVIDIA’s first independent data center microprocessor, built to compete with offerings like Intel’s Xeon line, AMD’s EPYC chips, and custom silicon from major players such as Amazon’s Graviton.
