David Sacks: US Government Sold About 195,000 Bitcoins in the Past 10 Years, Missing Out on Over $17 Billion in Potential Profit

On March 6th, David Sacks, the White House AI and Crypto Czar, stated in a social media post that "over the past ten years, the U.S. federal government has sold around 195,000 bitcoins, resulting in a revenue of $366 million. If the U.S. government had retained those bitcoins, their value would now be more than $17 billion. This is the cost that American taxpayers have had to bear due to the absence of a long-term strategy." According to HTX market data, Bitcoin is currently priced at $90,245, and 195,000 bitcoins are worth approximately $17.59 billion.
