Why Did Apple Sell Off Despite Beating Earnings Expectations? Slowing Gross Margin Guidance, Underwhelming China Performance, and High Memory Costs Weighed on Its Stock Price.
According to data from the BIT Stock Platform, Apple closed down 1.83% this morning, and fell an additional 2.5% in after-hours trading. Why was it sold off by the market despite beating earnings expectations?
This morning, Apple released its Q4 FY2026 financial results: revenue hit $114.48 billion, up 11.7% year-over-year; EPS stood at $2.10, both metrics exceeded analyst forecasts. iPhone revenue surged 17.5% YoY to around $57.6 billion, and Mac sales rose nearly 24% YoY, delivering strong performance. However, Greater China revenue, while up 21% YoY to approximately $17.5 billion, still missed analyst estimates by around 6.5%. The services segment’s growth slowed to roughly 9.8%, its lowest level in nearly three years, and the company’s guidance for next quarter’s services revenue growth is only 8%-9%, significantly below market expectations. More critically, management guided next quarter’s gross margin to fall to 45%-46%, lower than analysts’ expected ~46.3% and a notable drop from the current quarter’s 47.9%, driven by rising storage costs and AI-related expenses. Although next quarter’s revenue growth guidance of 7%-10% is above expectations, against the backdrop of Apple’s sharp stock rally in recent months and already high valuation, the underperformance in China, slowing services growth, and margin pressure have triggered investor profit-taking.

Kamino: The team’s KMNO tokens will be unlocked based on Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) milestones, and a potential buyback may be considered in the future.
Solana-based liquidity protocol Kamino CEO Michael Weisz published a post detailing KMNO’s positioning and long-term roadmap. The project aims to capture roughly 10% of the tokenized real-world asset (RWA) market in the medium term, and reach a 20% share by 2030. Kamino’s on-chain and off-chain revenue, plus intellectual property, are held by the non-shareholder Kamino Foundation. Over the next 24 months, the foundation will allocate at least $20 million to product development, partnerships, and team expansion, and may roll out KMNO-supportive initiatives such as token buybacks and burns if its financial position allows. Most KMNO tokens will only unlock once the fully diluted valuation hits incremental milestones ranging from $1 billion to $10 billion, with a similar structure to be applied to team tokens going forward.

NEAR's maximum annual inflation rate will be phased down from 2.5% to 1.6%
NEAR's decentralized on-chain governance body House of Stake has voted to approve a proposal to reduce NEAR's maximum annual inflation rate from 2.5% to 1.6%, with the cut to be phased in over 24 months. Officials noted that token holders can cast public votes on core parameters, and the new rate will be implemented per epoch in accordance with the published timeline, enabling verifiable long-term inflation reduction. The follow-up process is as follows: The House of Stake Security Committee will first review the results before granting approval; post-approval, a roughly 90-day grace period will follow, after which validators will adopt the change via a protocol upgrade to activate it. The inflation rate will then be adjusted per epoch, hitting 1.6% at the 24th month, with actual inflation tracked against the timeline via quarterly reports.

The U.S. state of New Jersey has lifted the staking ban and related lawsuit against Coinbase, allowing local users to resume staking.
Coinbase Legal Officer Molly Abraham announced in a post that New Jersey has formally withdrawn its staking lawsuit against the platform and lifted the cease-and-desist order, clearing the way for the state’s users to resume staking activities. Local users missed out on millions of dollars in staking rewards over the past three years due to the prior restrictions. The New Jersey Bureau of Securities revoked on October 30, 2026, the summary penalty and cease-and-desist order imposed on Coinbase in June 2023, including the $5 million civil fine. The revocation does not constitute a merits ruling and does not bar future enforcement actions. Abraham noted that defending users’ right to access safe, compliant staking services remains a top priority, adding that the next targets are Wisconsin, Maryland, California, and Washington.
