Insight: Solana Gears Up for 2026 With RWA Momentum, Institutionalization Trend Heats Up

2026.01.02 13:21:05

On January 2nd, Solana reported record real-world asset (RWA) tokenization activity heading into 2026, building on momentum from late 2025. December data shows Solana’s on-chain RWA value grew nearly 10% month-over-month to a new high of $873 million, while the number of RWA holders rose 18.4% to 126,000. Solana’s RWA ecosystem is currently dominated by U.S. Treasury-like assets: BlackRock’s $255 million BUIDL Fund and Ondo’s $176 million USD Yield Product lead the pack. Tokenized stocks (Tesla, NVIDIA) and institutional funds are also ramping up on the chain. The network is on track to become the third public blockchain to top $1 billion in RWA value, trailing only Ethereum (≈$12.3 billion) and BNB Chain (over $2 billion). Bitwise recently noted that passage of the U.S. CLARITY Act (a crypto market structure bill) in 2026 could supercharge the tokenization wave—with Solana poised to be a top beneficiary. Though SOL has pulled back from its all-time high, a spot Solana ETF has launched with ~$765 million in inflows. Separately, Western Union is building a stablecoin settlement platform on Solana, set to launch in H1 2026, boosting its institutional adoption outlook.

August U.S. CPI could determine whether the Federal Reserve will implement its first interest rate hike in more than three years, with the current probability of a September rate hike standing at around 70%.

The U.S. Department of Labor will release August Consumer Price Index (CPI) data at 20:30 Beijing time tonight. Market expectations are for headline CPI to rise 0.4% month-over-month (MoM) and 3.4% year-over-year (YoY), while core CPI is projected to increase 0.2% MoM and 2.4% YoY. This data will serve as a key reference for the Federal Reserve’s decision on whether to implement its first interest rate hike in over three years next week. The Fed’s last rate hike occurred on July 26, 2023, when it raised rates by 25 basis points, pushing the federal funds rate target range to 5.25%–5.50%. U.S. August Producer Price Index (PPI) rose 5.4% YoY, up from July’s 4.8%. Meanwhile, the Iran-related conflict has pushed U.S. oil prices above $100 per barrel. Combined with transportation, supply chain, and tariff costs, the Fed will closely monitor whether energy prices are passing through to core goods and services prices. The market is particularly focused on the core CPI MoM figure. Analysts note that if core CPI rises 0.2%, it may provide room for the Fed to hold rates steady; if it rises 0.4%, it could significantly push policy toward a rate hike. Should the figure come in at 0.3%, traders may further scrutinize unrounded data and sub-components including housing, services, and core goods. CME FedWatch data shows the market currently assigns a roughly 70% probability that the Fed will raise rates by 25 basis points in September, lifting the target range to 3.75%–4.00%. Bank of America argues that even if CPI meets expectations, it may still be sufficient to support a rate hike; Nomura Securities, however, expects the Fed to keep rates unchanged.

Google launches Gemini Windows app, but initial version differs little from its web counterpart.

Beating AI News Flash: Google officially launches Gemini desktop app for Windows, supporting Windows 10 and 11 and available globally. Users can summon Gemini from any interface via the Alt + Space shortcut, eliminating the need to switch to a browser. The app integrates Gemini Spark, Gmail and Drive connectivity, as well as Nano Banana image generation and Gemini Omni video generation features. However, the launch version has limited desktop-specific capabilities. 9to5Google reports that its current interface is essentially the web version of Gemini with Notebooks and a history sidebar added. Google’s own documentation notes that the Mac version already supports screen content reading, cross-app voice input, and Spark’s local folder organization—all of which will be added to the Windows version in future updates.

Analyst: Bitcoin’s current demand is weak; if this fails to improve, it may enter a correction phase.

CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost noted in a recent post that Bitcoin’s current demand conditions are deteriorating, making it difficult for the cryptocurrency to sustain its current price levels. Data shows Bitcoin’s spot demand stands at negative 145,000 BTC, with the downward trend remaining stable; futures demand, while still positive at 74,500 BTC, has weakened significantly. Institutional investors, affected by the current macroeconomic environment, lack confidence in taking on Bitcoin risk, and the Coinbase Premium Index has dropped to -0.036, showing a clear negative trend. For ETF flows: Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana ETFs recorded net outflows of $282 million, $29.9 million, and $500,000 respectively, while XRP ETFs saw a net inflow of $5 million, leading to an overall net outflow of $308 million — the worst single-day performance for the sector in the past two months. If demand conditions fail to improve rapidly, the crypto market may enter a correction phase. Current macroeconomic and geopolitical news are the main drivers of market moves, and attention should also be paid to the impact of rapidly rising bond yields.

The Robinhood-associated stock meme coin AI has surpassed a $270 million market cap, rallying more than 37% in the last 24 hours.

According to GMGN market data, the crypto-stock meme coin Artificial Inu (AI) on the Robinhood Chain has crossed the $270 million market cap threshold, currently trading at $272 million, with a 24-hour gain of over 37% and a 24-hour trading volume of $25.6 million. Stock Meme is an emerging concept that directly combines traditional meme coins with tokenized U.S. stocks: instead of pairing with USDT or ETH, meme coins are traded directly against on-chain U.S. stock tokens (such as NVDA, TSLA, etc.). This model retains the high volatility and community-driven speculative nature of meme coins while leveraging the popularity and narratives of real stocks. Typically, a portion of transaction fees is funneled back to the community treasury to accumulate the corresponding U.S. stock tokens, forming a dual-driven model of "sentiment hype + real asset anchoring". Artificial Inu integrates narratives related to Shiba Inu, AI, and NVIDIA, and features a pairing mechanism with tokenized NVDA. BlockBeats reminds users that prices of related tokens are highly volatile, so investors should exercise caution.
