US regulators issue proposed guidance on third-party risk management for banks.

US regulators have released proposed guidance on third-party risk management for banks. The Federal Reserve, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) stated that the framework aims to help banks and credit unions "better calibrate and adjust their third-party risk management practices based on the risks of individual third-party relationships." Per the regulators’ joint announcement on the same day, the guidance is principles-based and non-binding; once finalized, it will replace the existing third-party risk management guidance. The public comment period will run for 60 days after the guidance is published in the Federal Register. The regulators also issued a separate statement on community banks’ dealings with core service providers, while the Federal Reserve is separately seeking comments on supporting guidance for the community banks it supervises.

TD Securities: The Federal Reserve is expected to launch its interest rate hike cycle in September, with three rate hikes projected for this round.

TD Securities strategists said they now expect the Federal Reserve to kick off the first of three rate hikes in September, a shift from their prior forecast that the central bank would hold rates steady through the rest of 2026. Strategists including Oscar Munoz and Gennadiy Goldberg wrote in a daily research note: "We expect a total of three rate hikes in this cycle, with the next two increases coming in October and January next year. The Fed may not provide forward guidance, but the dot plot is likely to lean hawkish." The adjustment in expectations came after U.S. August CPI data released Friday came in hotter than expected, prompting traders to price in higher near-term rate hikes from the Fed. The strategists added in the note: "After August CPI showed a lack of progress in taming inflation, we now expect the Fed to launch its rate hike cycle in September."

Crypto whale sets 10 major targets: Bullish trend remains unchanged, Bitcoin successfully holds $74,000 after CPI shock

Whale "First Set 10 Big Goals" stated after today’s U.S. CPI data release triggered Bitcoin’s short-term "pin dip" to $76,046 that the leading cryptocurrency has not fallen below $74,000, and its bullish trend remains intact. The whale referenced an August 25 tweet in which he asked, "Which is more likely right now: a reversal or a major rally?" In that post, he noted the trend had reversed. "This round of momentum has been more intense than I initially imagined, so we can be bolder in our outlook. I believe it’s still not too late to enter at $80,000 or even above $80,000—there’s still room to grow. It’s very likely that $100,000 will be reached earlier than I originally expected."

Robinhood App Faces Discrepancy Between INDEX Token Name and Market Data; Community Alleges Mislabeling as Index Cooperative

X user @trynafindbebe posted that an INDEX token has appeared on Robinhood’s crypto platform. The page is labeled under the old project Index Cooperative, but its displayed price and trend align more closely with the Robinhood Chain’s INDEX token rather than Index Cooperative’s governance token on Ethereum. The user also alleged that Robinhood co-founder Vlad Tenev liked their related post on August 4, and the said INDEX token showed up on the app the next day. As of press time, Robinhood has not officially confirmed the listing time, nor clarified whether the like was connected to the token’s inclusion. On the same day, tracking account NewListingsFeed announced “INDEX and COOPERATIVE have been added to Robinhood’s tradable assets”, noting that the update reflects a change to the platform’s asset list that day but is from automated monitoring and not an official announcement. Separately, market reports state that the INDEX-related page on Robinhood has returned a 404 error.
