Bitcoin Futures Open Interest Reaches $88.7 Billion All-Time High, Analysts Warn of Potential Large-Scale Liquidation

2025.10.03 22:48:24

On October 3rd, based on CoinGlass data, the total open interest (OI) of Bitcoin futures across all exchanges has reached a brand new all-time high of $88.7 billion today. Presently, the Bitcoin price is in a state of consolidation around $120,000. This record open interest suggests that the leverage level in the derivatives market is overly high. Trader BitBull has forecasted that Bitcoin and altcoins will undergo a "large-scale leverage liquidation" within the next 1-2 weeks. He holds the view that this liquidation will compel some traders to sell off, but following that, the market will rebound once again and reach new heights. Other analysts hold different viewpoints. Trader CrypNuevo believes the upside target is approximately $123,200. In contrast, Trader Roman points out bearish divergences on the daily and weekly chart levels, cautioning about the risk of a weakening momentum. CoinGlass data indicates that the current support liquidity is mainly concentrated around $118,500.
