Bitcoin Mining Difficulty Hits All-Time High, Achieving Seventh Consecutive Increase

2025.10.02 18:16:36

On Wednesday, October 2nd, the Bitcoin mining difficulty increased by 5%, reaching a new high of 150.84 T. This marks the seventh consecutive rise. The difficulty resets every 2016 blocks (roughly every two weeks) to assess the difficulty for miners to find new blocks and to maintain an average block time of approximately 10 minutes. This increase indicates the continuous growth of the network hashrate, which has now gone beyond 1 ZH/s (1.05 ZH/s). A higher hashrate means more machines are vying to secure the network, enhancing security and also raising the profitability threshold. This pressure has already been reflected in the hash price, that is, the income per unit of hashpower for miners. According to Luxor data, this metric has dropped below $50 per second per P hashpower.
