Staking Service Provider Kiln: Today starts the orderly shutdown of all its Ethereum validating nodes to ensure the integrity of staked assets

2025.09.10 13:32:18

September 10th. The staking service provider Kiln announced that following the hack of SwissBorg, which led to the loss of approximately $41 million worth of SOL, all Ethereum validator nodes will commence an orderly shutdown starting from September 10, 2025. The process is anticipated to be completed within 10 to 42 days, with an additional 9 days for withdrawals. This is a precautionary measure taken to ensure asset security. The Kiln team stated that rewards will still be received during the shutdown period, no other indications of fund loss have been detected, some services are temporarily suspended, and infrastructure is being enhanced. A detailed report will be provided later. The team emphasized that the validator node shutdown is a responsible action to safeguard the security of stakers. They are closely monitoring the entire process to ensure the security and reliability of the service. In yesterday's news, the SwissBorg CEO issued a public statement indicating that they are actively investigating the security incident that took place yesterday. The incident was not an attack on the SwissBorg platform itself but rather an external DeFi wallet used for operating the SOL Earn strategy that was exploited due to a vulnerability.

The U.S. budget deficit hit a record for July, with interest payments for the current fiscal year already surpassing $1 trillion.

Against the backdrop of accelerating U.S. federal spending expansion paired with declining revenues, America’s fiscal situation continues to deteriorate, with debt interest spending exceeding $1 trillion cumulatively so far this fiscal year. Data released by the U.S. Treasury Department on Wednesday shows the July budget deficit hit $432 billion, the highest level for the same period in history, driven primarily by sharp increases in federal Medicare spending and rising public debt interest costs. Over the first 10 months of fiscal 2026, the cumulative budget deficit has reached $1.8 trillion. Adjusted for calendar factors, the deficit is 5% larger than the same period in fiscal 2025, highlighting the government’s sustained rising borrowing needs. Meanwhile, following the Supreme Court’s ruling invalidating most of former President Trump’s additional tariff measures, ongoing tariff refunds have also weighed on fiscal revenues, further amplifying deficit pressures.
