Critical vulnerability uncovered in Telegram Desktop: A single click on a malicious link can instantly steal any local files and user sessions. The crypto community is urged to update immediately.

Security researcher beaksec (Emiliano Versini) recently disclosed a critical vulnerability (CVE-2026-107181) affecting Telegram Desktop versions 7.2.8 and earlier. Attackers can craft malicious tg:// links; when users click these links via external platforms such as browsers, an IPC injection enables reading of arbitrary local files—including tdata session files—and exfiltrating them to an attacker’s channel, potentially leading to account takeover. The flaw has been patched in Telegram Desktop version 7.2.9. Given that numerous cryptocurrency projects, communities, and trading groups rely on Telegram, sensitive data like wallet mnemonics, private key screenshots, and transaction records are often stored locally. Users are advised to immediately check for and install the latest Telegram Desktop update, avoid clicking untrusted links, and enable local password protection for sessions to mitigate theft risks.

Zcash development team plans to introduce post-quantum signature mechanisms in January next year, with around 70% of ZEC still held in transparent address pools.

Privacy-focused public blockchain Zcash’s development team plans to introduce quantum-resistant signature-related opcodes to the network in January 2027, enabling hash-based signature verification for transactions to mitigate threats to wallet key security posed by future quantum computing breakthroughs. However, the official activation timeline for this feature has not yet been finalized. Zakura engineer Roman Akhtariev stated that the team plans to integrate post-quantum signature opcodes into Zcash next January. This mechanism aims to prevent attackers from deriving private keys from public keys and forging transaction authorizations, with the upgrade focusing on Zcash’s transparent transaction system. Data shows that as of Thursday, approximately 11.96 million ZEC are held in transparent address pools, accounting for around 70% of the total 16.98 million ZEC in circulation. Transparent transactions disclose addresses and transaction amounts, while shielded transactions hide details such as senders, recipients, and amounts. Additionally, Zakura has launched a wallet balance query tool based on Private Information Retrieval (PIR), allowing users to check address balances without exposing the queried address list to servers. The experimental version of this tool is now available via the "Private queries" setting in the Zcash wallet Vizor. Previously, Ethereum researcher Justin Drake warned that AI-assisted attacks could accelerate the risk of breaking existing cryptographic systems, advising crypto holders to prepare for a "Bunker Mode" in extreme scenarios. However, no practical quantum attacks targeting the keys of major mainstream crypto wallets have been confirmed to date.

Less than two days after OSC7501 was proposed, Claude Code has been officially integrated.

Beating AI Insight News Brief: Claude Code v2.1.295 now officially supports OSC 7501, a terminal state protocol recently proposed by Ghostty creator Mitchell Hashimoto. The protocol lets Claude Code actively notify the terminal of its status—working, waiting for the user, or completed—removing the need for external tools to infer status from screen content. The period between the protocol’s announcement and Claude Code’s release was roughly 48 hours; notably, Claude Code was exactly the example Mitchell initially used to demonstrate the protocol. Previously, Herdr relied on 16 identification rules to judge Claude Code’s status, revising them around 10 times over the past three months, with even a single character change in Claude Code’s loading animation requiring full rule re-adaptation. Now, status is reported directly by Claude Code itself. As long as the terminal supports OSC 7501, users can immediately confirm if Claude Code is working, waiting for user input, or finished. Mitchell added that the Anthropic team has verified this implementation using Rex, which currently has preliminary support for the protocol.

Binance's ETH reserves fall to a six-month low, with the number of daily withdrawal transactions hitting an all-time high.

CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost noted in a post that despite the crypto market entering a short-term correction recently, Ethereum’s price has fallen roughly 11% and its market capitalization has shrunk by over $38 billion, investors are still steadily withdrawing ETH from trading platforms. Data shows that Binance’s ETH reserves dropped from 3.57 million to 3.47 million over the past three days, hitting a near six-month low. Since August, Binance’s ETH reserves have declined by about 11.5% from 3.92 million. Meanwhile, the number of Binance ETH withdrawal transactions surpassed 320,000 on October 6, setting a new all-time high.

Bitcoin shorts face liquidation pressure, as Trump pledges not to strike Iran ahead of the midterm elections.

US President Trump said he will not launch airstrikes on Iran ahead of next month’s midterm elections, easing market concerns over escalating tensions in the Middle East. In response, Bitcoin rebounded from its Thursday low of around $80,400 to near $82,500, putting short sellers under liquidation pressure. In terms of market prices, Bitcoin is currently trading at $82,486; Ethereum fell roughly 2% in 24 hours to near $2,500; SOL dropped nearly 4% to around $110, while XRP and HYPE remained relatively stable, with the CoinDesk 20 Index down approximately 2%. Alex Kuptsikevich, chief market analyst at FxPro, noted that Bitcoin dipped to $80,400 on Thursday, hitting a nearly three-week low and its 50-day moving average before securing buying support, indicating sustained buying demand during the pullback. In broader macro markets, S&P 500 futures rose less than 0.5%, while Nasdaq 100 futures gained nearly 1%; Brent crude oil fell below $103 per barrel, easing inflation concerns stoked by earlier oil price increases. Whether Bitcoin can stage a further rebound will depend on its upside resistance levels and developments in the Middle East.
