A Early Bitcoin Investor Unveils Physical Bitcoin Bar After 13 Years, Unlocking 100 Bitcoins and Profiting Over $10 Million

2025.07.12 09:08:27

On July 12th, as per the report by Coindesk, with Bitcoin reaching new highs recently, the early Bitcoin investor and BitcoinTalk forum user "JohnGalt" successfully redeemed his 13-year-old Casascius physical Bitcoin bar. He extracted the 100 Bitcoin private keys stored inside and earned approximately 10 million US dollars in profit. JohnGalt stated that he initially spent $500 to purchase this bar in 2012 when Bitcoin was only about $5 per coin and there was almost no interest. In his post, he admitted that over the years he had tried to sell the bar many times and even considered auctioning it off, but the process was often hindered by pricing disputes and trust issues, making it impossible to complete a transaction smoothly. Now that Bitcoin has exceeded $100,000, JohnGalt felt that continuing to hold a physical asset worth "eight figures in USD" was too risky, which prompted him to finally extract these 100 bitcoins. It is worth noting that since BCH uses the same private key mechanism as Bitcoin, astute Internet users quickly claimed $40,000 worth of BCH by extracting it using the private key visible in the photo before JohnGalt could secure it, all within a quick 9-minute process.

Unitree Robotics IPO: Grey market trading rumors are unfounded, and the underlying risks should not be underestimated.

According to a report by Shanghai Securities News, recent market discussions have claimed that scalpers are buying shares of Unitree Technology off-exchange, with some intermediaries offering prices far exceeding the IPO offering price. In response, reporters verified with multiple senior market participants including investment institutions, private equity firms, and securities brokerages, all of whom stated they have not observed such activities, adding that the relevant rumors are largely unfounded. They also noted that such private off-exchange agreements and transactions are of questionable compliance, and investors are highly likely to suffer losses. CITIC Securities, the lead underwriter for Unitree Technology's IPO, also reminded that securities trading must strictly abide by laws, regulations and stock market trading rules, and should only be conducted through legally recognized channels with real-name accounts. It advised investors against blind follow-up speculation, urging them to adhere to rational and value-based investment principles, and carefully assess investment risks.
