Multicoin Co-founder: Solana Ecosystem is Fully Committed to Advancing the Vision of the Internet of Capital

2025.01.23 13:38:24

On January 23rd, Kyle Samani, the founder of Multicoin Capital, stated in his latest investment thesis on Solana that Solana is the leading public blockchain that supports the Internet capital market. Moreover, as a technology, Solana can outperform major traditional finance (TradFi) participants in core performance metrics such as latency (including financial market players like the NYSE, NASDAQ, CME, JPM, Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley, as well as payment players like Visa and Mastercard). While retaining the core blockchain attributes that TradFi has never provided (atomic composability and permissionless access for users, developers, and validators). Most importantly, the Solana ecosystem can achieve the dual goals of reducing end-user financial service fees by 90-99% and achieving a higher total market cap than existing traditional finance (TradFi) enterprises. Samani also mentioned that the Solana ecosystem is fully dedicated to realizing the vision of the Internet capital market. Solana is simultaneously improving the execution quality for market makers through on-chain liquidity and enhancing throughput with multiple concurrent leaders. In addition, the Solana ecosystem is expanding its total addressable market (TAM) horizontally (by supporting a wider range of TradFi and crypto-native assets) and vertically (by capturing some maximum extractable value (MEV) from the many financial services built on Solana).

US officials confirm Saudi Arabia's oil pipeline system was attacked, with some pumping stations damaged.

CNN cited two US officials as reporting that Saudi Arabia’s key East-West oil pipeline system was struck by projectile attacks on Thursday local time. Preliminary analysis shows a pumping station alongside the pipeline was hit; satellite imagery reveals one pumping station sustained extensive fire damage, while another suffered a small blaze and emitted thick smoke. It remains unclear who is behind the attacks, whether the pipeline itself was damaged, or how long repairs will take. One US official noted the drone used in the attack originated from Iraq. The East-West pipeline’s significance has risen since the outbreak of the US-Iran conflict. With Iran effectively closing the Strait of Hormuz, Saudi Arabia has diverted roughly 5 million barrels per day of crude oil originally destined for Persian Gulf tankers to flow through this pipeline to Yanbu Port on the Red Sea. Meanwhile, the Houthi movement has claimed it will target any Saudi vessels trying to transit the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, putting Saudi Arabia’s alternative oil export route at risk.

US regulators issue proposed guidance on third-party risk management for banks.

US regulators have released proposed guidance on third-party risk management for banks. The Federal Reserve, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) stated that the framework aims to help banks and credit unions "better calibrate and adjust their third-party risk management practices based on the risks of individual third-party relationships." Per the regulators’ joint announcement on the same day, the guidance is principles-based and non-binding; once finalized, it will replace the existing third-party risk management guidance. The public comment period will run for 60 days after the guidance is published in the Federal Register. The regulators also issued a separate statement on community banks’ dealings with core service providers, while the Federal Reserve is separately seeking comments on supporting guidance for the community banks it supervises.

TD Securities: The Federal Reserve is expected to launch its interest rate hike cycle in September, with three rate hikes projected for this round.

TD Securities strategists said they now expect the Federal Reserve to kick off the first of three rate hikes in September, a shift from their prior forecast that the central bank would hold rates steady through the rest of 2026. Strategists including Oscar Munoz and Gennadiy Goldberg wrote in a daily research note: "We expect a total of three rate hikes in this cycle, with the next two increases coming in October and January next year. The Fed may not provide forward guidance, but the dot plot is likely to lean hawkish." The adjustment in expectations came after U.S. August CPI data released Friday came in hotter than expected, prompting traders to price in higher near-term rate hikes from the Fed. The strategists added in the note: "After August CPI showed a lack of progress in taming inflation, we now expect the Fed to launch its rate hike cycle in September."
