Trump has pledged not to strike Iran ahead of the U.S. midterm elections, but U.S. military forces have reportedly informed the Israeli military of the possibility of resuming military operations before the end of the month.

The U.S. is reported to have notified Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir that U.S. military forces may resume operations against Iran by the end of this month. During the call, Zamir noted that if the U.S. renews strikes, Iran could launch retaliatory attacks on Israel, potentially leading to a delay in Israel’s general election originally scheduled for October 27. U.S. President Donald Trump explicitly stated on social media Thursday that the U.S. will not attack Iran ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. He claimed that the U.S. and Iran are engaged in productive negotiations, will maintain their blockade on Iran, and emphasized that large volumes of oil are currently being transported through the Strait of Hormuz. However, Axios previously reported that the Pentagon has ordered U.S. Central Command to complete preparations for resuming military operations against Iran. Sources familiar with the matter said that if operations are restarted, U.S. forces could carry out large-scale strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure and nuclear facilities. White House officials added that the U.S. currently holds the initiative in the Strait of Hormuz, and Iran’s economy is facing pressure leading to collapse.

Node.js creator joins long-time rival Cloudflare; Deno runtime’s official updates are discontinued after one year.

Beating AI News: Cloudflare announced that the entire Deno team has officially joined the company. Deno, a JavaScript/TypeScript runtime created by Node.js founder Ryan Dahl, also revealed it will only provide bug fixes and security updates for the Deno runtime over the next year, after which official development will cease. Its cloud hosting service Deno Deploy will shut down in six months. In a notable twist, Ryan Dahl in 2022 named Cloudflare Workers as Deno Deploy’s most direct competitor. Now Deno Deploy is exiting the market, with the team assisting paying customers in migrating to Cloudflare Workers. The Deno runtime will remain open-source, with the community taking over its development. JavaScript package platform JSR will continue operations, with its infrastructure moving to Cloudflare. Moving forward, Ryan Dahl and Deno co-founder Bert Belder will lead the integration of two open-source projects: celld, built by the Deno team to let developers run distributed Workers and Durable Objects on their own servers; and workerd, Cloudflare’s open-source underlying runtime engine for Cloudflare Workers. Durable Objects store application state and handle real-time connections, making them ideal for AI agents that need to continuously track task progress. The two teams plan to integrate celld’s distributed capabilities into workerd, enabling developers to run the technology on their own servers and reduce reliance on Cloudflare’s cloud platform.

AI Agents now have contact lists too: Photon allows them to create group chats and handle tasks within iMessage.

Beating AI Express News: AI Agents can now independently seek assistance from other Agents. Messaging infrastructure firm Photon announced it is integrating A2A (Agent-to-Agent communication and collaboration) into iMessage group chats. Users only need to assign a task, and their personal Agent will locate other Agents, retrieve their phone numbers, and add them to the same group chat. For instance, if a user wants to organize a team trip, their personal Agent can find Agents specializing in accommodation, ride-hailing, and restaurant bookings to coordinate the itinerary together in the group. Users can monitor the conversation and join discussions at any time. Photon dubs this model "Agent-to-Agent-to-Person", referring to collaboration between multiple Agents and human users. Technically, the new feature is built on the A2A protocol and its Agent discovery mechanism, which was originally proposed by Google. Photon previously allowed AI Agents to send and receive messages via iMessage; this update adds the capability to proactively find other Agents and create group chats. Photon recently closed a $4.5 million seed funding round. Founder Daniel Tian hopes every enterprise will offer its own Agent, enabling direct connections between Agents.

Dragonfly Partner Opposes Crypto Industry Descending Into 'Doom Panic': Asset Migration Is Not a Fundamental Solution; Instead, an Active Recovery Mechanism Should Be Established

Dragonfly Capital managing partner Haseeb Qureshi criticized Ethereum researcher Justin Drake’s proposed "Bunker Mode" as "cryptographic doomsdayism", arguing that once AI breaks through cryptographic signature mechanisms, simply migrating assets to new addresses will not fundamentally solve the problem. If assets in other addresses are stolen and sold off en masse, even if migrated assets are temporarily safe, their value could be severely impacted. Qureshi proposed that blockchain networks establish a "cryptographic recovery mode", allowing users to pre-bind hash-based alternative signature schemes to their addresses, with validators able to forcibly activate an asset recovery mechanism if existing cryptographic signatures are compromised. Per Glassnode data, addresses holding roughly 6.26 million BTC face public key exposure risks, accounting for over 31% of Bitcoin’s total supply. Of these, around 4.33 million BTC’s risk stems from address reuse, which can be eliminated by migrating to new addresses; another 1.94 million BTC faces risks due to address format issues. Exchanges’ related risk exposure nears 1.8 million BTC, representing roughly 57% of their total BTC holdings. Earlier, Justin Drake warned that AI could accelerate the cracking of the Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) used in crypto wallets, with worst-case risks potentially emerging in months rather than years. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin also noted that risks from AI accelerating mathematical research should be taken seriously, but does not recommend users hastily transferring their assets.

CZ warns of supply chain attack risks for Ledger hardware wallets, with a single distributor suspected of selling counterfeit or tampered devices.

CZ issued a post warning Ledger hardware wallet users to remain vigilant, especially those who purchased devices recently. Based on available information, the incident appears limited to the supply chain, involving one vendor, with a small number of users possibly purchasing counterfeit or tampered Ledger devices. CZ stated that Ledger is a long-standing, highly secure hardware wallet brand in the industry, but such incidents can still occur. He called on the BNB ecosystem and the entire crypto industry to assist in tracking and recovering the stolen funds. Earlier, Ledger confirmed it is investigating a fund theft incident involving users in Southeast Asia, where affected users purchased devices via reseller CryptoBilis. Ledger has ordered CryptoBilis to suspend sales and shipments, and advised users who bought devices through the reseller in the past 90 days not to initialize their devices for now; if setup is already complete, they should create a new Ledger signing device using a new mnemonic phrase and transfer their assets to the new wallet. On-chain investigator Specter estimates the incident has led to the theft of hundreds of wallets across Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tron networks, with losses exceeding $86 million. Security researcher tanuki42 previously estimated losses have surpassed $72 million, noting the figure is still rising. At present, the specific cause of the incident and whether the involved devices have security vulnerabilities remain unconfirmed pending investigation.
