ElizaOS founder alleges daos.fun founder profited $6.6 million via insider trading related to ai16z.

ElizaOS founder Shaw published an article accusing daos.fun founder baoskee of using insider information to trade during the renaming and migration of the ai16z project, claiming he profited roughly $6.6 million from selling ai16z tokens. Shaw noted that in June 2025, the project team had promised to launch a Snapshot vote to let the community decide on a name change, as venture capital firm a16z had earlier demanded the project rebrand to avoid trademark disputes. Shaw alleged that when the voting mechanism failed to launch as promised, baoskee—aware of the renaming pressure and subsequent migration plans—sold all ai16z holdings in daos.fun’s execution wallet and continued offloading tokens ahead of the project’s move to ElizaOS, driving the token’s price down. Shaw argued baoskee held information unavailable to other token holders. In response, baoskee published a post denying the claims, stating the Snapshot vote had already been launched, and that daos.fun had additionally added and locked over $1 million worth of ai16z liquidity at its own cost. He also leveled accusations against Shaw, citing serious issues in project operations, token migration, and the use of development funds. The two sides’ accounts remain sharply conflicting, with Shaw saying he will attach relevant on-chain records from Solscan at the end of his article.

IREN Co-Founder: New AI data centers will further drive up AI demand, as infrastructure supply struggles to keep pace.

Daniel Roberts, co-founder and co-CEO of IREN, wrote in a post that each new AI data center will further boost, rather than reduce, demand for AI. He argues that comparing the current AI infrastructure cycle to past tech booms overlooks two key factors: stronger AI itself requires more computing power, and cheaper AI will drive higher usage. Roberts notes that every leap in AI capability creates new use cases that did not exist a year ago, meaning demand can grow at the pace of software development, while supply cannot match that rate. Expansion of computing power supply depends on access to electricity, transmission lines, concrete, steel, and large numbers of construction workers, with its growth constrained by real-world infrastructure limits. He added that in past tech boom cycles, technological progress often helped supply catch up with demand, but this time, technology itself is driving exponential growth in AI demand, and real-world construction speeds cannot keep pace fast enough.

Semiconductor stock rebounds fail to allay concerns, as short selling volumes in South Korea continue to climb.

Although stock markets have rebounded sharply from the panic sparked by a sell-off in chip and artificial intelligence (AI)-related stocks, data shows that short selling volumes continue to rise. Data released by South Korea’s exchange on Sunday indicates that as of Tuesday, South Korea’s stock market had an open short position balance of approximately 19 trillion won (around $13.4 billion), an increase of 2.27 trillion won from 16.73 trillion won at the end of last month, marking a 14% rise. At the end of February this year, the short balance stood at 15 trillion won, dropping to 12 trillion won in early March before climbing back to 23 trillion won in early June. So far this month, South Korea’s benchmark KOSPI has gained 6%, while the tech-heavy KOSDAQ index has surged 20%. Last month, South Korea’s stock market plunged amid concerns over the profitability of AI-related investments, which could weaken chip demand. Still, investors remain wary of the market’s rapid short-term gains and are uncertain whether the chip sector has peaked.

Galaxy Research Director: Probability of CLARITY Act passing this year lowered to 10%, with political divisions cited as the main obstacle

Alex Thorn, head of research at Galaxy, published a note cutting the probability of the CLARITY Act passing in 2026 to 10%. He noted the bill’s core hurdles now stem more from political than policy factors, including ethical restrictions on government officials engaging with the crypto industry, opposition from the banking sector—especially community banks—and disputes over developer protection provisions. Thorn added that Senate Majority Leader John Thune has scheduled the Senate to hold its first vote on the CLARITY Act shortly after it wraps up its recess in mid-September, leaving only a roughly two to three week window to advance the legislation. If senators fail to immediately launch the advancement process upon returning to Washington, the bill would need to occupy nearly the entire legislative session to have any chance of passing in 2026. Separately, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) had planned to advance two crypto regulatory measures: Reg Crypto and the "Innovation Exemption," but both have recently been delayed again. Thorn believes the SEC had previously delayed action at least in part to avoid disrupting CLARITY Act negotiations, and now that the bill is stalled, the regulator may accelerate advancing its independent regulatory framework. He projects that regardless of whether the CLARITY Act ultimately passes, the SEC is likely to release the full text of Reg Crypto, the "Innovation Exemption," or both in the coming weeks to months.

xAI co-founder Wu Yuhuai may have purchased a luxury mansion in California, USA for $70 million.

According to the San Francisco Standard, a 12-acre mansion in Hillsborough, California, sold for $70 million, with the actual buyer likely being 31-year-old Wu Yuhuai, co-founder of xAI. The transaction is the highest-priced residential deal in Northern California so far this year. Property records show the buyer listed for the estate at 3000 Ralston Avenue—whose main residence spans roughly 12,000 square feet—is Daikon no Hana Capital LLC. However, Jia Xu, the broker handling the buyer’s transaction, also represented Wu in a $12 million purchase of a Los Altos Hills home last year. Additionally, the managing attorney of that firm transferred Wu’s previous residence into a family trust approximately one week before the current deal closed, leading to speculation that Wu is the actual buyer. Wu co-founded xAI in 2023 alongside Elon Musk and others, and contributed to the development of Grok. In February this year, shortly after xAI was acquired by SpaceX via an all-stock transaction valued at $250 billion, Wu announced his departure from the company. The estate includes a 6-bedroom main home, a roughly 4,600-square-foot guest house, plus amenities such as a tennis court, a 9-hole golf course, a 150-seat outdoor amphitheater, a koi pond, and a 2,100-gallon saltwater aquarium. The property was first listed last fall for $88 million, later reduced by $10 million, and ultimately sold for $70 million.

Semiconductor stocks' rebound fails to dispel concerns, as short selling volumes in the South Korean market continue to climb.

Although the stock market has rebounded sharply from panic triggered by plummeting chip and artificial intelligence-related stocks, data shows that short selling volumes continue to rise. According to data released by the Korea Exchange on Sunday, as of Tuesday, South Korea’s stock market open short interest stood at approximately 19 trillion won (around $13.4 billion), an increase of 2.27 trillion won from 16.73 trillion won at the end of last month, marking a 14% rise. This year, short interest hit 15 trillion won in late February, dipped to 12 trillion won in early March, then climbed to 23 trillion won in early June. So far this month, South Korea’s benchmark KOSPI has gained 6%, while the tech-heavy KOSDAQ index has surged 20%. Last month, South Korea’s stock market plunged over concerns about the profitability of AI-related investments, which could dampen chip demand. Still, investors remain wary of the market’s rapid, overheated rally in the short term and are uncertain whether the chip sector has peaked.
