According to monitoring by Onchain Lens, a Bitcoin whale that had been dormant for four years transferred 730 BTC (valued at approximately $46.12 million) to a brand-new wallet one hour ago. On-chain records show that this wallet had accumulated the aforementioned holdings over the past seven years. Earlier reports noted that another whale ended a seven-month dormancy today, transferring 16,400 BTC to a new address. Analysts stated that sustained attacks on Bitcoin hardware wallet manufacturer Coldcard due to vulnerabilities, along with the loss of years of savings for some users, may be a key factor driving the whale’s holding transfers. The security of hardware wallets is now facing severe doubts, which could prompt many long-term holding whales to feel anxious and start moving their holdings to new addresses to mitigate risks.

Strategists say the U.S. Treasury may fund its yen-buying plan with euros instead of dollars, to avoid devaluing its own currency and undermining its strong dollar policy. Two people with knowledge of the matter said the Federal Reserve Bank of New York last Friday asked at least two large U.S. banks to check the yen-euro exchange rate. “The U.S. likely does not want to be seen selling dollars,” said David Forrester, senior strategist at Crédit Agricole in Singapore. He added: “The U.S. maintains a strong dollar policy and does not want to be seen trying to gain a competitive edge by weakening its own currency, as that would violate the G20’s consensus on foreign exchange policies. It would be bad optics for the U.S. Treasury to sell dollars, so it is opting to use euros instead.” Jason Wong, currency strategist at Bank of New Zealand in Wellington, noted: “The end result is effectively the same, as the funds will eventually need to be reallocated back to euros at some point. This could mean the U.S. will still end up selling dollars, but in a less transparent manner.”

According to market data from BIT (bit.com), Nasdaq 100 Index futures extended their gains to 1%, driven by optimistic sentiment surrounding US-Iran negotiations.
