Analyst: Bitcoin and Ethereum Set to See Worst Quarterly Performance in Years

On March 26th, as per Cointelegraph, barring a significant rebound in the coming few days, Bitcoin and Ethereum are likely to experience their worst-performing first quarter in years. Swyftx's Chief Analyst Pav Hundal remarked that it is improbable to witness a "vertical rally" within the remaining six days before the end of the first quarter of 2025. Hundal stated that the crypto market will engage in "some blind flying" until mid-April, by which time the market should have a more defined understanding of President Trump's tariff plans. "Economic data indicates a robust global economic situation," he further added. According to CoinGlass data, Ethereum (ETH) has decreased by 37.98% in the first quarter of 2025 thus far, marking its worst first-quarter performance since 2018 (when it witnessed a drop of 46.61%). Meanwhile, Bitcoin (BTC) has declined by 6.49% this quarter so far, with the quarter ending on March 31st, representing its worst first-quarter performance since 2020 (which saw a drop of 10.83%).

If Trump Implements Tariffs, Dollar Strength Is Unsustainable

On March 29th, the foreign exchange analysts Athanasios Vamvakidis and Claudio Piron of U.S. banks stated in a report, "We hold the view that the risk remains balanced until next week's deadline. The imposition of tariffs on specific products is already what the market anticipates. A comprehensive tariff would come as a negative surprise. It is anticipated that in the case of a comprehensive tariff, the dollar will not continue to gain strength, and the market remains worried about a slowdown in the U.S. economy. Due to logistical difficulties, the implementation of new tariffs may also require time, thus leaving room for negotiations." (FXStreet)
