Ripple CEO: SEC Will Drop Ripple Lawsuit

On March 20th, Crypto reporter Eleanor Terrett declared that the ruling made by Judge Torres in the Ripple case from August of the previous year remains in force. Ripple still has to pay a $125 million fine. Although the SEC has theoretically consented to drop the appeal regarding programmatic/secondary market sales, Ripple has not yet agreed to drop its own appeal against the $125 million fine and the ongoing injunction that prevents it from selling XRP to institutional investors without registering these sales as securities. On March 19th, cryptocurrency journalist Eleanor Terrett disclosed on social media that following the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) agreeing to withdraw its appeal against Ripple, the cryptocurrency derivatives trading platform Bitnomial intends to drop its lawsuit against the SEC. Bitnomial had previously initiated a lawsuit against the SEC in October last year after the SEC asserted regulatory authority over XRP futures contracts in Bitnomial's plans. Terrett stated that Bitnomial will officially commence XRP futures contracts tomorrow morning, which have been approved by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
