Swiss National Bank’s (SNB) US stock foreign exchange reserves rose more than 10% in the second quarter, hitting an all-time high. According to the SNB’s 13F-HR filing submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Tuesday, as of June 30, it held stakes in over 2,300 US-listed companies with a total value of $191.4 billion. The SNB allocates just over a quarter of its foreign reserves to stocks, with part of the holdings invested in the US. Its top three holdings are Nvidia (NVDA.O), Apple (AAPL.O), and Microsoft (MSFT.O). The central bank also held $716.6 million in shares of defense software firm Palantir, despite activist investors’ earlier demand that it sell around $1.1 billion of its Palantir stake, a request the SNB rejected.

According to market data from BIT (bit.com), U.S. stock index futures edged higher in pre-market trading on Tuesday, while oil prices erased earlier gains. This comes after Pakistan signaled that the U.S. and Iran are nearing an agreement, which is expected to ease tensions roiling energy markets. Meanwhile, traders are awaiting key inflation data to guide the Federal Reserve’s interest rate policy. Senior market analyst Daniela Hathorn noted: “Investors are increasingly pricing in a scenario where inflation continues to cool, the Fed stays patient, and earnings growth is sufficient to support elevated valuations. If the CPI data comes in mild again, it will reinforce this narrative and extend the rally; if the data exceeds expectations, it will push up U.S. Treasury yields and the dollar, forcing markets to re-examine whether recent optimism around policy and valuations is justified.”

According to a report by the Financial Times, Erebor Bank, a crypto-friendly bank co-founded by Palmer Luckey and Joe Lonsdale, is seeking $1.5 billion in funding, with the round expected to close in weeks. The target pre-money valuation is $8 billion, and firms including a16z are listed as potential investors. The project’s core business is providing crypto-friendly banking services. Erebor Bank previously raised $350 million in funding in December 2025, at a valuation of $435 million.

As businesses accelerate hiring and inflation pressures ease, U.S. small business optimism rose in July to near its highest level in nearly a year. The Small Business Optimism Index from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) climbed 2.4 points to 99.8, marking its highest level since August 2025. Eight of the 10 component sub-indexes rose, while two declined. The net share of U.S. small businesses planning to add jobs jumped to its highest since October 2022, and the proportion of small businesses planning capital expenditures in the coming months hit its peak since the end of 2024.
