Michael Saylor has responded to reports that Strategy plans to authorize the sale of up to $5 billion worth of Bitcoin, calling the news a repackaging of an old announcement. Strategy originally unveiled the relevant authorization on June 29 as part of its capital management framework, Saylor said. The authorization allows the company to sell Bitcoin for pre-defined uses but does not mandate any actual sales, he explained. According to Axios, two U.S. officials and a person familiar with the matter disclosed that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman held a phone call with U.S. President Trump on Saturday, voicing concerns over his new large-scale plan to strike Iran. Earlier media reports said Trump was seriously considering attacking Iran’s energy targets in the coming days, in response to Iran’s missile attack on a U.S. military base in Jordan and its ongoing disruption of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. However, he has not yet issued a final order as of press time. “The Saudi side expressed concerns and requested a clear action plan,” a U.S. official stated. Another source with knowledge of the call noted that Mohammed bin Salman urged Trump to de-escalate the situation and avoid launching strikes. Saudi Arabia is one of the U.S.’s most vital allies in the region. UBS stated that driven by surging demand from AI GPU manufacturers and hyperscale cloud service providers, coupled with rising average selling prices (ASPs) of storage products, storage spending is growing rapidly. According to Yonhap News Agency, data from South Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service shows that in June 2026, South Korea’s five major cryptocurrency exchanges transferred 2.7625 trillion won in stablecoins to overseas trading platforms, while receiving 2.2022 trillion won in stablecoins from abroad, resulting in a net outflow of 560.3 billion won. In the same period, South Korean investors made net purchases of overseas stocks worth around 722 billion won, meaning the net outflow of stablecoins equaled 77.6% of that amount. From January 2025 to June 2026, South Korea has recorded 18 consecutive months of net outflows of stablecoins to overseas markets. In the second quarter of this year alone, stablecoins saw a net outflow of 1.6872 trillion won, while net sales of overseas stocks stood at 1.6185 trillion won over the same period. The stablecoins are primarily used for overseas derivative trading not offered by South Korea’s domestic exchanges. Some overseas platforms have recently launched spot and futures products for South Korean stocks including Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Hyundai Motor, offering leverage of up to dozens of times; RWA, DeFi, and staking services are also attracting funds to overseas markets.
