Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister has proposed holding talks with Oman on a temporary shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iran's Tasnim News Agency. If an agreement is reached, this route would replace the current north-south shipping lanes. The Iranian deputy foreign minister noted that Oman has suggested a shipping route split 50-50 between Iranian and Omani control. "We have said this cannot resolve Iran's concerns. We have stated that the entry route into the sea should be fully controlled by Iran, and a portion of the exit route should also be under Iranian control. If they accept this arrangement, we will move to the next stage. We will never recognize the southern shipping lane of the Strait of Hormuz, not even for an hour. If Oman does not accept Iran's proposal on the Strait of Hormuz, the strait will remain closed, and we are prepared to resume war. Under no circumstances will we recognize the strait's southern shipping lane. Our proposal is that one lane of the strait must be fully controlled by Iran, and a portion of the other lane should also be controlled by Iran.
