BitMEX announced it will officially shut down its trading platform at 04:00 UTC on September 23, 2026. New user registrations have been suspended effective immediately. Following a strategic review of its business and the broader cryptocurrency industry, the board of BitMEX’s parent company HDR Global Trading Limited has decided to close the trading platform. BitMEX strongly advises all users to close their positions and withdraw funds as soon as possible. The platform will continue normal operations until the shutdown time, but starting at 04:00 UTC on August 26, 2026, it will impose risk restrictions: users will not be able to open new positions, only reduce existing ones. After this date, BitMEX will gradually liquidate existing positions to ensure an orderly market exit; positions not closed by the shutdown time will be liquidated immediately. The platform states it will not be liable for trading losses caused by users’ failure to close positions in a timely manner. Additionally, illiquid contracts will be settled in advance, with relevant users notified per usual practice.
